English Bulldog Fighting A Bull. The result of these fights was one victor and one dead loser. The tale of bulldogs fighting bulls or otherwise known as bull baiting started with a butchers bulldog in England.

It takes a tremendous amount of serious teasing or threatening to provoke this sweet-natured breed but once aroused he can be a force to reckon with. The first English Bulldogs were bred in the 13th century for Bull baiting and dog fighting. See Section Two for information about these two Bulldog types.
Known today as a happy silly pudgy dog the English Bulldog was originally bred for fighting and baiting bulls.
Bulls were variously pitted against Bulldogs and other animals in this sport. 16112019 The English bulldog could also attack in self-defense at any age if provoked. 11062020 It was a gory blood sport which took place in towns and villages all across England during the Middle Ages. As their name suggests the Bulldog was originally bred for the sport of bull-baiting.
